
Iwona Gibas
Board member of the Małopolska Region
A local government official with many years of experience. Since 2018 she has been a member of the Regional Assembly of the Małopolska Region. Since 2020 she has served as a Member of the Board of the Małopolska Region. She gained professional experience, among others, while working at the Nadwiślańska Tourism Agency (NAT), where she held the position of Deputy Director of the NAT Hotel in Ustroń. Actively involved in the socio-political life of the Małopolska Region. During the previous term of the Regional Board, she was responsible for culture, tourism, the participatory (citizens’) budget, and non-governmental organizations. Currently, on behalf of the regional government, in addition to culture and tourism she also oversees the labor market.
An initiator of cultural and tourism cooperation. She supports activities aimed at preserving national heritage as well as developing and shaping the cultural awareness of the residents of Małopolska. She supervises more than 20 cultural institutions of the Małopolska Region, which involves actions to obtain funding for key investments and to expand their program offerings. Thanks to her initiative, the Museum of the Memory of the Residents of the Oświęcim Land and the Roma History and Culture Center in Oświęcim joined the group of cultural institutions of the Małopolska Region . She is also the initiator of projects aimed at rebuilding international tourist arrivals to Małopolska after the COVID-19 pandemic and promoting the sustainable development of tourism. She is actively involved in creating and developing tourist routes in the region, including the Małopolska Wine Route.
As part of her work, she also engages in initiatives supporting the economic development of Małopolska and improving the quality of life of its residents. As a result, numerous schools, hospitals, volunteer fire brigades, as well as sports and recreational facilities for children and youth have been renovated, expanded, and equipped.
