In recent years, the growing importance of wine tourism has been obvious, both directly for wineries as well as for regional development and even the progression of worldwide tourism. At this stage of accelerated development, academic research is needed to create new industry standards. This session will present the results of wine tourism research aimed at identifying the most important criteria for wine tourism, as well as the best world practices in this area.

Wine Routes, wine trails, wine roads. It seems to be that every wine producing country or region has one. Each producing beautiful informative web sites and brochures but how well are they doing when it comes to attracting wine tourists to their destinations? Czech Wine Escapes: Where Wine Pairs with Folklore, Heritage and Design
In the heart of Europe, in the country famous for beer, you will find unexpected but all the more exciting wine experiences drawing from two-thousand-year-old winemaking tradition. With most of the wine production concentrated in the south-east of the country, the picturesque region of Moravia has it all – folkloric wine alleys, old castle wine cellars as well as modern design wineries, laced by a picturesque landscape with castles and historic towns. To fully appreciate what this hidden-gem destination has to offer, the destination presentation will be followed by a Czech Wine Masterclass.
