Dr. Simon Kerma

Simon Kerma, PhD, is a geographer and sociologist of culture. He is a senior lecturer and researcher at the Faculty of Tourism Studies – Turistica, University of Primorska, Department of sustainable tourism destination. He is also one of the initiators and a collaborator of the Centre of Gastronomy and Wine Culture of the University of Primorska. In his research he deals with issues in wine and culinary tourism, sustainable tourism, ecotourism and tourism development in rural areas. He has been a co-editor of some professional and scientific monographs, as well as co/author of several papers. His doctoral dissertation is the first (and only) in Slovenia dealing with the geography of wine, wine regions and their identities in the wine tourism context. He is a sommelier and a passionate wine lover.
